The regularly occurring local goth night 6FeetUnder drew a crowd this past weekend with the main headline DJ’s Awfully Sinister, Mijito, and Hexmaschine got everyone moving – despite the heat and intense crowds that come from the monthly downtown art event called first Fridays. As per a staple, the back patio was filled with patrons, vendors, and artists of all sorts. Inside, the dimly lit dancefloor turned into a sea of black and red with various faces and forms happy to escape the heat while dancing.
While it also had been an issue before, the outdoor bar and expedited service inside seems to have corrected the notorious waits for libation, and even if it was for a water – patrons were happy.
Through out the night, the rotating DJ’s sampled out many different genre’s of dark wave electronica, and at one point I could swear I heard a mashup of hip-hop/goth during one of Mijitos sets. Either way, there was definitely something for everyone at some point during the evening to get their dance moves on.
