Bad Cop/Bad Cop at Yucca Tap Room

On a rainy desert night, Bad Cop/Bad Cap kicked off 2024 playing to a jam packed crowd at Yucca Tap Room in Tempe, Az. Storming the tiny booze-stained stage, Stacey Dee, Linh Le, Myra Gallarza, and Alex Windsor grabbed the crowd with their relentless high-energy and audience interaction. No strangers to the Arizona punk scene and always down to sow a little mischief, Stacey and crew opened the show by introducing themselves to the crowd as Az based all-female punk favorite “The Venomous Pinks“, who just happened to be playing in Bad Cop/Bad Cops locale of southern California on the same night (come to find out, the Pinks had some fun of their own and introduced themselves to those attending their show as Bad Cop Bad Cop). Laughing at the chaos, Stacey kicked the show into overdrive by launching into “Retrograde” off of 2017’s Warriors. The low stage at Yucca played directly into Stacey and Linh’s penchant to lean in close to those in the front, blurring the line between audience and band. Thanks to the ladies of Bad Cop/Bad Cop extensively touring over the years, nearly everyone in attendance knew every word to every song in the set. Other songs of note included “Shattered” & “Safe and Legal” (which were recently released as a 7inch vinyl), “Breastless” (a deeply personal track which, despite the upbeat and powerful chords & vocals, document the struggles of breast cancer), “Simple Girl”, with the raucous anthem “Womanarchist” closing out the night.
