Wednesday, July 9th, was a big day for the ladies in Bad Cop Bad Cop. News dropped that their long time label, Fat Wreck Chords, was officially sold to Hopeless Records, they announced the official September 19th release date for their upcoming full length album, Lighten Up, they dropped the official music video for the album’s lead single “All Together Now“, and kicked off their Lighten Up tour at a packed Yucca Taproom in Tempe, AZ. The air in the venue was thick with excitement as Stacey Dee (guitar/vocals), Linh Le (bass/vocals), Myra Gallarza (drums/vocals), and Alex Windsor (guitar) took stage and wasted no time kicking the set off with their aforementioned new single, “All Together Now”. The set consisted of a solid mix of longtime favorites, including “Originators” and “Simple Girl” off of 2020’s The Ride, “Nightmare” from 2015’s Not Sorry, and “Warriors” and “Womanarchist” from 2017’s Warriors. These crowd pleasers were mixed in amongst newer tracks “All Together Now”, “Straight Out of Detox”, and “I4NI”. If the crowd at Yucca’s reception to these new songs is an indication of things to come, the new album is going to be insanely well received. The crowd whipped into a frenzy song after song, as a mosh pit engulfed most everyone in attendance, only slowing down to listen to Linh, Stacey, and even Alex (the newest member of Bad Cop Bad Cop) talk about the inspiration behind the new tracks and the importance of this album as a whole to them. With a new label supporting them, new music that’s being insanely well received, and a new tour taking them across the country (with a second part this fall & winter taking them overseas), the ladies in Bad Cop Bad Cop have the world at their feet.
