It’s Almost Monday at The Van Buren

Almost Monday brought their Thank God It’s Almost Monday tour to The Van Buren in Phoenix, delivering a massive 23-song set of sun-soaked indie pop. The all-ages, 13+ crowd skewed young, with plenty of parents in tow, but the room also held a healthy contingent of fans over 21. Almost Monday’s infectious melodies had an obvious cross-generational appeal, bringing younger fans and longtime music lovers together through the kind of hooks that are impossible not to sing along to. Every song was met with a full-throated sing-along from a crowd that clearly knew every word. Tracks like “Superprism,” “Delicate,” “Skinny Dip,” and “No More Regrets” showcased the band’s knack for infectious hooks and breezy melodies, turning the venue into one massive chorus.

There’s something refreshing about watching a band connect so effortlessly with its audience, and Almost Monday made it look easy. The younger fans may have dominated the floor, but their enthusiasm was undeniable, bringing an energy that carried through the entire set and right up to the closing number, “Better Late Than Never.” With a tight touring schedule and an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! bringing them some well-deserved national attention, Almost Monday are on the precipice to reach an even bigger audience. If the dedication on display at The Van Buren is any indication, these fans are ready to follow them wherever their sun filled road leads next.
