Jinjer Tempe AZ

With Las Vegas’ Sick New World festival on everyone’s mind, the states surrounding Nevada got a bunch of one-off shows, and folks in Arizona had a lot to choose from. Jinjer was one of those festival bands on offer, and came through Tempe AZ to play at the Marquee theater in front of a near sold-out crowd.

Jinjer is a solid metalcore band on every level, being able to transition from screaming to beautiful singing at the drop of a beat. Their breakdowns in their songs can be as heavy as they come, and the band infuses those breakdowns with their unique blend of metal and melodic experimental jazz.

Jinjer took the stage right at 9 pm to a very foggy and blue set up. The last time Jinjer was here was at the end of 2022, and while we didn’t get the same huge stage production the had brought through back then, it honestly didn’t matter. Jinjer let the music speaks for itself. They’re nothing less than a well-oiled machine who play just as precise as Meshuggah. Tatiana, the lead singer, is a commander on stage and her stage presence is as evil as it is beautiful. One of the unique aspects of watching Jinjer live is their bass player Eugene. As I was looking around, I definitely saw some people focused on Eugene, considered to be one of the top-10 bass players in the world! Every time I’ve seen Jinjer, Roman (on guitar) is normally roaming around in the dark parts of the stage just thrashing away, so it was a surprise to see him at the forefront of the stage, headbanging with a foot perched on the monitor. It’s obvious that Jinjer keeps gaining momentum, climbing the metal ladder, and selling out the Marquee theater on a weeknight is testament to how rapidly their fan base is growing.

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles CA and moved to Phoenix AZ in early 2020. Growing up, I was surrounded by musicians and artists who influenced my life. I've always felt a pull towards photography and finally have the opportunity to invest in my passion. I originally started out with street photography when I was a teenager. Then a good friend of mine asked me if I could take photos of his band and now I'm doing what I love, concert photography!
