Building hype for the release of their seventh full length album, Rochester psychedelic rockers King Buffalo kicked off their latest tour at Boulder, Colorado’s Fox Theater. The trio delivered sonic wonders, with slick guitar, driving bass and elegant drums that set the packed room ablaze.
Opening up for King Buffalo on the tour is Los Angeles garage rock trio L.A. Witch, a perfect compliment to the headliner. L.A. Witch plays like a dream, with a sound blending surf rock, psychedelic punk, and a lot of heavy brooding. The two bands pair together well, and L.A. Witch vocalist Sade Sanchez brings a melancholic drawl that forms a current the expert musicians flow through. L.A. Witch is a band to watch for fans of Bikini Kill and Velvet Underground, or if Mazzy Star had serious grit.

Delivering Doomsayer, their seventh studio album, in December of this year, King Buffalo played a set that showed just how ready they are to step out of the shadows and loom like giants. A moody light show and haunting projections drenched the band in darkness, with lead singer Sean Roa looming over his mic while bassist Dan Reynolds grooved his way around the stage in a ritual dance. Scott Donaldson served steady beats and frenetic energy with aplomb, showcasing how tight the trio has become over 13 years touring together.
