KING BUZZO & TREVOR DUNN @ REBEL LOUNGE

King Buzzo and Trevor DunnThursday night at the famous Rebel Lounge we got the dynamic duo King Buzzo (Melvins) and Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) I honestly don’t understand how anyone slept on this show. King Buzzo and Trevor Dunn are a fantastic duo that takes playing acoustically to another level. You have Dunn on the stand-up bass and Buzzo on the acoustic guitar while they both share signing duties. This project is just as weird/insane as it is beautiful and melodic. You have two masterminds behind these instruments making some extraordinary music. Theres no glitz and glamour to these shows. They walk right onto that stage and get down to business. Buzzo’s voice has always be unique and powerful and while he’s normally backed with an entire band, seeing him with just an acoustic guitar his voice is coming through bigger and brighter. Buzzo’s voice stopped my heart a couple of times throughout the night, and it made me feel as if there was no one else in the club. I stopped for a second and realized I potentially wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Buzzo is just as electric on the acoustic as he is with the ‘Melvins’. He’s running around on stage getting up close and personal with his fans, with his signature crazy hair flying around.

Dunn on the other hand was a little more reserved, given he did have a giant standup bass to handle. Dunn was a little mysterious and eccentric while playing the stand-up bass. Dunn’s voice compliments Buzzo’s and their harmonies were perfectly in line with one another. One thing that phoenix got that the rest of the tour stops didn’t, was Buzzo actually saying something to the crowd. Dunn even acknowledged Buzzo and said, “yea you haven’t said anything all tour”!

If you needed your soul to be cleansed this was the show to go to!

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles CA and moved to Phoenix AZ in early 2020. Growing up, I was surrounded by musicians and artists who influenced my life. I've always felt a pull towards photography and finally have the opportunity to invest in my passion. I originally started out with street photography when I was a teenager. Then a good friend of mine asked me if I could take photos of his band and now I'm doing what I love, concert photography!
