The Bombpops at Valley Bar

The Bombpops took Valley Bar‘s stage by storm earlier this week as they marked the halfway point of a short tour leading up to their Punk In The Park appearance on 7/19. The current touring line up consists of founding member Jen Razavi on guitar and lead vocals, with longtime bass player Neil Wayne holding down one half the stage, Yotam Ben Horin stepping in on guitar opposite him, and Gideon Berger of Tess and the Details lending his sticks to the drums. Despite not being the full founding lineup, Razavi and Wayne pulled two staggeringly good musicians to fill the stage, and you would be hard pressed to find a better lineup. Playing tracks from across their discography, The Bombpops had a solid setlist ensuring everyone in the crowd heard one of their favorites. Always one to meet a crowds energy, the crowd sung along and Jen played harder and sung harder, only stopping periodically to thank everyone for pack the venue on a Wednesday night. It was also nice seeing the band shout out long time friends and collaborators in attendance; it’s been years since The Bombpops toured through this part of the desert, but it truly felt like Phoenix was an almost homecoming for everyone on stage. The Bombpops are playing Punk in the Park in 7/19, and while there’s not dates schedule yet for after that performance, I’d be shocked if they didn’t hit the road again soon.
