The Cult at The Showroom Wild Horse Pass

The Cult brought their unique sound to Chandler, AZ. The English rock band was formed in 1983, and even though they have gone through a handful of members. Plus a couple of breakups, The Cult is still going strong! There was no opener for this show and the crowd got 16 songs from The Cults’ wide range discography.

Before the band took the stage, the stage tech smudged sage all over the stage, cleansing it and getting rid of all the negative energy. This was my first time seeing The Cult and I was beyond excited to finally witness them live. The Cult has been a staple in my little black heart and in the Goth scene. While I was waiting for The Cult to take the stage all I could hear was about how good Ian Astbury still sounds amazing after all these years. The crowd was a mixture of people from younger to older, bikers to goths! As the lights dimmed, the venue filled with fog and each member took the stage. The band opened up with ‘Rise’ off their album ‘Beyond Good and Evil’ in 2001. The stage production was perfect for the goth rock-fueled band. Mainly being backlight with a ton of fog to create that dark atmosphere feel. Going back to Ian Astbury, I was blown away at how good he was live. His voice is still at the top tier and honestly on a level that sounds like we’re listening to one of their records live. The Cult, a band that will live on for centuries as their live shows can attest to that.

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles CA and moved to Phoenix AZ in early 2020. Growing up, I was surrounded by musicians and artists who influenced my life. I've always felt a pull towards photography and finally have the opportunity to invest in my passion. I originally started out with street photography when I was a teenager. Then a good friend of mine asked me if I could take photos of his band and now I'm doing what I love, concert photography!
