The Delta Bombers at The Rhythm Room

On 1/17/24, the The Delta Bombers made a long awaited stop at the Rhythm Room in Phoenix, Az. Bringing their genre-defying style of punk rock from their native Las Vegas out to the Sonoran Desert, the Delta Bombers packed the house with both longtime fans and those new to the band. Despite a heavy bend towards rockabilly and psychobilly, Chris Moinichen (vocals and acoustic), Gregorio Garcia (Bass), Andrew Himmler (guitar), and P.J. Franco (Drums/Percussion) all incorporate their own varying musical tastes into each track. With influences ranging from Johnny Cash (to the point where the band playfully call out the almost-mandatory reference point) and Hank Williams to rap and punk, no two songs performed sound anywhere near the same, but they all work incredibly well together. This blending of music stylings draws in an truly raucous and chaotically fun crowd; standing in the Rhythm Room on Wednesday night you would have been hard-pressed to miss the blending of slicked back pompadours, biker leathers, punk battle jackets, swing-style dresses, torn fishnets, and cowboy boots. This evening was also a special one for Chris, who announced partway through the set that a Wednesday was not only a great night for a punk rock show, but that this particular Wednesday was an important night to play a punk rock show as it coincided with his 7 year sober anniversary. The crowd cheered and applauded this news, and the band launched into the rest of their set (they played for nearly 2 full hours). Standout tracks from the evening include “Shoveling Coal”, “Good Disguise”, and “Lock The Door” (written, Chris explicitly stated with a wry grin, well before he got sober). The night was a hell of a good time, with the added bonus of having The Goddamn Gallows and Volk opening up the show. You can catch The Delta Bombers on tour now.
