The Joe Perry Project Rocks Out in Chandler, AZ

Chandler, Arizona — The Joe Perry Project, with special guest opener Sacha Carlson and the Light, brought rock and roll royalty into The Showroom at Wild Horse Pass Casino on September 16, 2025. With the floor cleared around the stage for general admission tickets, attendees were treated to Joe Perry‘s blazing guitar riffs, accompanied by the well-known vocals of long-time collaborator Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes.

Carlson is an actor that you may know from his role in the Netflix series, “Julie and the Phantoms.” Carlson is a great choice to be the opener for the legendary headliner group. Energetic, effusive, and ecstatic at the opportunity to open for Perry, Carlson brought his own youthful energy. Bassist Julian Bailey is also an explosive performer in his own right. The crowd was warmly receptive, the contrast in generations not lost on the attendees. A songwriter and guitarist who has collaborated with Robert De Leo of Stone Temple Pilots (who is part of the Joe Perry Project this year), Carlson seems to be on a trajectory for bigger things in the entertainment industry, and I plan to keep a watch out on where he goes.

The Joe Perry Project, first created by its legendary namesake after his temporary departure from Aerosmith in 1979, is a personal project that Perry has led during Aerosmith’s downtime. Now that Steven Tyler cannot perform due to vocal issues, this year’s tour is an all-star event and includes fellow Aerosmith bandmates Brad Whitford and Buck Johnson, along with Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, and Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz of Stone Temple Pilots. It’s a power-packed show that doesn’t disappoint and is a welcome trip down rock and roll memory lane. There are lots of Aerosmith, Black Crowes, and Stone Temple Pilot covers to satisfy the most loyal fans, and a few of Joe Perry’s originals are peppered throughout.
