Riot grrrl music is alive and well with The Regrettes a post-punk, no nonsense band out of Los Angeles helmed by front woman Lydia Knight. Forming in 2015, The Regrettes gained a quick international following by singing “Helpless” for a 2018 #hamildrop – where bands either rerecord or remix songs from the wildly popular musical Hamilton that are then released by theatrical virtuosos Lin Manuel Miranda. Knight and the band put on a helluva good show and have swung through Phoenix several times including stints at the The Rebel Lounge in 2018 where they average age of all concert goers was about 14 years old. This Crescent Ballroom show carried a bit of an older crowd, and the band brought along two relatively new opening acts. While they didn’t play “Helpless” at either of these dates, Lydia and crew held their own to decades of punk influencers.
