It was a random Goth night at The Surly Wench Pub in Tucson, Az, hosted by Love Killz and Fineline Revisited. However, this time they had a special surprise for everyone that night: Aesthetic Perfection!
Starting their career in the early 2000’s, this aggrotech band has wormed it’s way through the industrial music scene, gaining notoriety with their signature dark/techno sound. Daniel Graves has worked tirelessly on building a moving machine that never slows, putting out over a dozen full length albums in just about 20 years (not including a very recent recent re-release of A Violent Emotion, with all tracks and production re-mastered). Their new single “Into the Void” was released on September 13th, the day before they played The Surly Wench. Unlike most bands in the aggrotech/ industrial scene, AP’s newest release is an energetic one which doesn’t stray away from their original industrial sound.
I overheard numerous people state they hadn’t seen this many people at goth night in a while, so Aesthetic Perfection still has an incredible audience draw. I also saw a large amount of people who drove the two hours down from Phoenix just to be at this show. DJ Stubbie opened up the night, with AP finally hitting the stage at 10 pm. Daniel Graves is one of those lead singers you don’t want to take your eyes off of. His energy is off the charts and he makes his performances personal with his fans. AP is one of those bands that makes you dance; you feel as if your body literally has no other choice. Graves had everyone jumping, and dancing, the night away. It was one of those evenings where all your problems disappeared and you were able to just live in that moment of time. The band itself played as tight as ever, and everything was locked and loaded to turn the Surly Wench into one big sweat fest that is the mark of a well performed Arizona concert.
