Earlier this month, punk and alt rock mainstay Laura Jane Grace took to the stage at Crescent Ballroom to open for Murder by Death. As founding member and lead of seminal punk rock band Against Me!, as well as The Devouring Mothers and her own solo work, Laura Jane Grace played a set that spanned over 20 years of anarchy and introspection. Nearly everyone in the crowd was belting along to songs from across her discography, from Is Reinventing Axl Rose and The Eternal Cowboy to Transgender Dysphoria Blues to tracks from The Devouring Mothers “Bought to Rot” as well as new songs off an upcoming album. Before nearly every song, Laura spoke with the crowd, joked, and told the stories behind the lyrics, helping bring a newfound understanding to the power of her music.
