Miss May I announced a headlining tour to promote Curse Of Existence, their 7th studio album. Followed by the release of the coinciding music video for their new single, “Bleed Together”, which received more than 170,000 views on YouTube only a week after it was released.
Undoubtedly the most consistently brilliant metalcore band out there, this band from Ohio have released an eye-popping half-dozen albums between 2009 and 2022, with some of them being only one year apart. That shows how dedicated this band truly is to their artform. The group took a global tour on 2017’s Shadows Within, a record that stands the test of time to this day, featuring singles such as “Suck Your Teeth” and “My Sorrow”. With songs featured in movies as well as video games, as well as a lot of warm, sweaty summers spent at the Vans Warped Tour, Miss May I worked hard to establish themselves as an established commodity within metal, regardless of the subgenre.
As I was walking in to The Nile theater, Currents had just finished their set. The Nile was packed from wall to wall and you can feel the anticipation in the air. It was almost that time for Miss May I to take stage and as soon as 9:30 hit each member walked out on stage to a huge uproar of screaming fans. They played 5 songs off their new album, opened up the set with one of my favorite new track called “Unconquered”. This song would get any crowd going and it did exactly that. The other four songs they played off the new album were “Into Oblivion,” “Free Fall,” “Bleed Together,” and “Earth Shaker”. The production for this stage set up was absolutely stunning, from the huge Miss May I banner hanging in the back to the led lights that they brought! One of the highlights that received a huge response from the crowd was just about half way through their set. All the members walked off stage for a breather and the drummer stayed on stage to perform a solo!
As each member came back on stage, Levi walked out with his hands in the air getting the crowd pumped up! He instantly started clapping his hands and everyone followed, it was quite a sight. Levi followed up with asking “who’s seen us before and who is seeing us for the first time? Well if it’s your first time welcome to the family, we accept you all!” For anyone that’s a fan of Miss May I, this is a tour you do not want to miss. The whole set was full of hits and a non-stop blast to the face of pure metalcore. It’s Classic Miss May I that we’ve all grown to love!
