Paranormal Cirque II: A Circus of a Different Kind

Chandler, AZ—The Paranormal Cirque II came to town the first two weeks of January, set up in a large white circus tent in a dusty field by the Gila River Outlets, large red neon signs serving as a beacon to attendees. I had an opportunity to photograph the show on its last night. I love photographing Italian circuses, but I really had no idea what I was truly in for.

The troupe’s theme is dark, gothic, sometimes horror-based, and it has the right balance of great physical acts liberally peppered with fantasy, seduction, and humor. It’s not a show for the bashful or the conservative; even as many shock performances as I have seen, there was one stunt that surprised even me. I won’t give any spoilers, but I will say you get your money’s worth when you attend a Paranormal Cirque II show. They are currently in Tucson, AZ until January 27, 2025, and then will move on to Albuquerque, NM on the next leg of their tour. The show is rated R; children under the age of 13 are not allowed, and those 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult. If you like a good thrill, this is your kind of show.
