On Feb 10th, 2024, Walter Studios played home to the 3rd annual Arizona Goth Fest (AzGF). Put on by the Arizona Goth Society & Morbid Mystique, AzGF is a gathering of all things goth, industrial, alternative, and macabre. Over a short few years, it has quickly grown to become the premiere festival celebrating the aforementioned subcultures here in Arizona. Despite the chill in the air, this years festival attracted attendees from across the state, bringing both Elder Goths and Baby Bats out in droves. There was no shortage of entertainment to be had, as the hosts of the show continually pull out every stop to ensure everyone gets their money’s worth and more. This year, they added an additional music room, providing an intimate environment for people to dance the night away to. This was a huge upgrade from prior years: guests with more space to roam, mingle, and dance without feeling overwhelmed.
In the main concert hall, attendees rocked out from 6pm to 2am with Fact Pattern, Belfry Bats, and Josue Kinter, with DJ sets provided by Obzen Vanitas, Unexpected Pedestrian, DJ Beautiful John, and Vyce. In the secondary Blue Room, music was spun for all by //She//, D:Minz, and Tavoo. Having the dual rooms ensured that there was never a lull in anything going on, and like moths to flames people bounced back and forth from stage to stage late into the morning. Rounding out the musical acts were performances weird and wonderous; sideshow acts were provided throughout the evening by Britni Bloodshed, Gee Notorious, Daddy Satan, Phoebe Phobia, and Rusty the Clown. As if that wasn’t enough, there was a Dark Market featuring vendors selling everything from paintings and jewelry to taxidermy and wet specimens, as well as live tattooing being done by Sadboy Studios, and a photo/video booth to strike a pose in provided by Boxter Photobooths.
